HOI TOURS ( HORSEBACK TOURS)
A fun way to know the island is on horseback, this way you’ll reach all the unreachable places Rapa Nui has to offer. You will start our rides at a sector in the north part of Hanga Roa, called Vaka Kipo, where the Educational Village is located.
Hanga O Teo: You will begin this adventure riding through the north side of the island, visiting beautiful desolated places that include caverns, petroglyphs and cliffs that overview the vast ocean , a photographer’s paradise. In Hanga O Teo, you’ll take a small break to enjoy a snack and visit its surroundings. Finalize the ride at Anakena where you will be awaited with a big lunch by the shores of this beautiful beach where you’ll be able to enjoy the rest of the afternoon. The return to town is on our vehicles.

Poike: This ride to Poike hill is an easy tour where you’ll enjoy the surroundings this place has to offer: countryside, seaside, woods, cliffs and its incomparable pink grass slopes, a unique characteristic of this sector of the island. You will finalize this ride with a great lunch Rapanui style.

Te Pahu ( Banana Tree Cavern): From Vaka Kipo you will begin this ride passing through all of the different kinds and sizes of ancient boat houses ( Hare Vakas) of this sector. Ana Kio, camouflaged caves used in times of tribal wars and big caverns, Te Pahu, with underground passages used as homes for ancient tribes. You will also visit the famous Ahu Akivi (Seven Moais), the only moais that face the ocean to finalize the ride at Puna Pau, place where the moai tops were made.

Orongo: This ride to the mythical village of Orongo at Rano Kau’s volcano top begins at the Tahai National Park, place specially known for it’s beautiful sunsets. From here you will ride towards the volcano following the town’s coastline, visiting the Ana Kai Tangata Cave where you can appreciate it’s cave paintings still intact though time, to continue towards the foot of the Rano Kau volcano where you will begin to ascend the south side of the crater, a place rarely visited, where you’ll will find different visuals approaches of Orongo Village, the crater and the Motus, islets where the Birdman Cult was held long ago.

Omohi (Fishing the North Side): From Vaka Kipo you will ride directly to Omohi at the north side of the island, place commonly used for fishing from the rocks. You will arrive to engaged in fishing the way the locals do. This method of line fishing is called Hi Ika and depending on your luck, the catch of the day will be part of the Tunuahi or Rapanui barbeque.

Terevaka: From Ahu Akivi, the seven moai ahu in the middle of the island we will begin our ride to the top of Terevaka, the highest peak of Rapa Nui, 510 mts high. The ride to the top is breathtaking, specially due to the magnificent 360 degree view of the island. Once at the top, letting the horses rest, you can see the island completely and check out the natural curvature of the earth where the sea meets the sky at the horizon.
