TOUR HAERE (HIKING)

Ara O Te Moai ( The Moai Route):

These trails were the last paths the moai traveled until they reached their final destinations, the Ahus ( ceremonial platforms where the moai stood). You will follow the exact trails the ancient Rapanui made to transport these gigantic statues.

We offer two alternative trails:

Trekking from Hanga Tetenga: From Hanga Tetenga, east coast sector of the island where the biggest moai placed on an ahu lies, we will start this trekking tour from here towards the Rano Raraku quarry, place where the statues were made to finalize the tour with an extensive visit to this ancient quarry site.
Trekking from Rano Raraku to Ovahe Beach: This is an exclusive and not well-known trail that takes you through different archeological sites: toppled maois, petroglyphs, caves and different ceremonial ahus. This trail ends in the beautiful Ovahe beach where you will be awaited by our staff with a delicious lunch Rapanui style.
