In the year 2004, the documentary’s director visited Easter Island for the first time and became fascinated with its beautiful landscape, history, archeology and its people. She decides to honor the Rapanui community and their culture by filming the documentary “The Pride of Being Rapanui”. Through a series of interviews of true representatives of this ethnic group, they show and share all the qualities and customs their culture possess. These testimonies and the documentation of their everyday life, reflect and teach us how they carry on with their lives conjugating their past, the present and the desire of maintaining and sharing their culture with the rest of the world.
